Woman sitting by a window, reflecting on why one area of her life won’t move

You’ve Read Think and Grow Rich. So Why Is One Area of Your Life Still Not Moving?

October 03, 2026

You’ve done the work. You’ve read Think and Grow Rich, watched The Secret, sat in the rooms with Tony Robbins and Jack Canfield. And a lot of it worked! Your career moved. Your income grew. You became the person others call when something needs to get done.

But there’s one area that won’t move.

Maybe it’s money: the same income ceiling, year after year. Maybe it’s love: the right person shows up, and something in you finds a reason to step back. Maybe it’s the price you know you should charge but hear yourself discount.

You know exactly what to do. And somehow, you don’t do it.

After more than 126,000 coaching sessions since 1989, I can tell you why that happens, and what actually changes it.

Is It Really a Knowledge Problem?

When something isn’t working, high achievers do what has always worked: they learn more. But two very different gaps can stand between you and a goal.

The Knowledge Gap. You don’t yet know what to do. More information solves it, fast. This is the gap the great success books close brilliantly.

The Safety Gap. You know exactly what to do, but some part of you has decided it isn’t safe to do it. More information doesn’t touch it. It often makes things worse, because now you judge yourself for not doing what you “should.”

Picture a coach who knows her program is worth $12,000. She has the results and the testimonials. But when it’s time to name her price, she hears herself say $2,000, then convinces herself it was the smart move.

She doesn’t have a pricing problem. She has a safety problem. No pricing course will ever fix it.

Why Would Your Own Mind Block What You Want?

Imagine boarding a plane and discovering the pilot is six years old. You’d want off!

Yet most of us fly through life this way. The beliefs steering your decisions today were largely formed before you were seven, when you were trying to feel safe, loved and important in your family. They made sense then. They are still at the controls now.

Your subconscious isn’t your enemy. It’s a protector, working from a map drawn by a six-year-old. When your life starts to grow beyond what feels familiar, it quietly steers you back. Even when familiar means stuck.

And the fear of success is rarely about success. More often, it’s the fear that if you succeed, you’ll end up alone, resented, or on the outside.

Your conscious mind is the size of a football. Your subconscious is the size of the football field. That’s why willpower loses. It isn’t a fair fight.

You’ll recognize a Safety Gap by its signals: you procrastinate on the one thing that would change everything, it takes three times the energy it should, or you do everything right and the results still don’t come. None of these is a character flaw. Each one is information.

Want to Find Out Right Now? Try This 60-Second Test

  1. Choose the area that won’t move. Money, love, health, visibility, career.
  2. Say out loud, slowly: “I am ready, willing and able to ______.” Fill in exactly what you want: “…to earn $250,000 a year.” “…to be loved.”
  3. Then say: “It’s safe for me to ______.”
  4. Notice your body. Does anything tighten, drop or go quiet? A knot in the stomach? Pressure in the chest?

If your body stayed calm and open, you’re probably facing a Knowledge Gap. Go learn the next strategy. It will work!

If something tightened, you’ve met your Safety Gap. That sensation isn’t a verdict. It’s a doorway. Inside it is a memory, and inside that memory is a decision you made long ago about what’s safe for you to have.

What’s Waiting on the Other Side?

One of my clients kept holding himself back from a promotion he wanted and deserved. When we followed the sensation, it led to a memory he hadn’t thought of in decades. As a boy, every time he excelled at school, his younger brother felt discouraged and fell further behind. Without realizing it, he decided: my success hurts the people I love.

For decades, that decision quietly engineered his “self-sabotage.” Not because he lacked ambition, but because part of him believed winning came at someone else’s expense.

Once he saw that decision through adult eyes, it dissolved. One session.

That’s the principle behind the Heart Freedom Method™. You don’t fight the old belief or override it with affirmations. You release it at the source, where it was first formed. The belief lets go because it’s no longer needed.

When Jack Canfield first experienced this work, here’s how he described it:

“Literally magical, the missing link I’ve been seeking for 50 years in the world of personal development.” — Jack Canfield

It’s why we wrote our upcoming book, Unstuck, together.

Who Do You Become When It’s Safe to Succeed?

When the Safety Gap closes, you don’t have to force the new behavior. You simply become someone who names your price and holds it, says yes to the love in front of you, and makes the call you’ve avoided for months, in three minutes.

The weight lifts off your shoulders. You sleep through the night. What felt heavy feels light.

You’ve already done the learning. The next step isn’t knowing more. It’s making it safe to have what you already know how to create.

Ready to Master Clearing Your Subconscious Protectors, Quickly and Easily?

Your subconscious protectors kept you safe once. Now they’re what keeps that one area of your life from moving.

Every year a block stays in place has a price. Money you don’t earn. Love you don’t let in. Health you don’t protect. And all the energy you spend pushing against yourself, energy you could be using to enjoy your life. When your career, your love life or your health is on the line, how many more years are you willing to lose? The weekend is a one-time investment. Staying stuck costs you every year, and it never sends you an invoice.

At the Breakthrough Intensive on November 21–22, you’ll learn to find and clear your subconscious protectors quickly and easily. You’ll clear your own blocks with a partner and my guidance, and leave able to use the method on your own for life.

You’ll walk out on Sunday night feeling lighter and sharper, able to make things happen without the invisible inner barrier.

Join us in person in Toronto (limited to 20 people) or online from anywhere, with a partner to work with.
